ARALIKATTE
The word 'Aralikatte' paints a vivid picture, redolent of camaraderie and solidarity. With the onset of a dusky sky, the people of the village gather to converse and share. Through this event, we try our best to uphold the spirit of village folk chatting away under the safe and comforting boughs of the peepal tree, albeit with contemporary finesse.
At its core, Aralikatte is an open mic event and is one of the initial few events we hold to kick off the new academic year, with the intention of exhibiting creative freedom. Weeks before the event, we decide on a fitting theme for the event. With topics ranging from 'fear' to 'mistakes', Aralikatte aims to put people with stories on a pedestal.
Participants are given carte blanche to speak or perform as they wish. They sing, share funny anecdotes, stage plays, recite poetry, and find solace in their audience knowing full well that there are people listening to them. In spite of being a relatively new event, Aralikatte never fails to bring people together, regardless of who they are and where they're from.
Aralikatte, as an event, lays emphasis on individuality via myriads of creative mediums. What it ultimately accomplishes is giving a voice to everyone under its canopy. Keep an eye out for the next time we decide to rendezvous. As we like to put it, a lot of things can happen under a peepal tree.
