೧೯೫೬ ರ ನವೆಂಬರ್ ೧ ರಂದು ಮೈಸೂರು ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಉದಯಿಸಿದ ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಕನ್ನಡ ನಾಡಿಗೆ 'ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ'ವೆಂಬ ನವನಾಮವ ಇಟ್ಟನು. ಈ ಶುಭ ಸಂದರ್ಭವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಹಬ್ಬವೇ ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ. ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ನವೆಂಬರ್ ೧ ರಂದು ಈ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ರಾಜ್ಯಾದ್ಯಂತ ಮಹದಾನಂದ ಹಾಗೂ ವೈಭೋಗದಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಭವ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಆಚರಿಸುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಸಂಪಾದಕ ಮಂಡಳಿಯು ಹಲವು ದಿನ ಮುಂಚಿತವಾಗಿಯೇ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ತಯಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ ರಸಿಕರಿಗಾಗಿ ವಿವಿಧ ರಚನಾತ್ಮಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಕ್ರಿಯಾತ್ಮಕ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳನ್ನು, ಉತ್ಸವದ ಮುಂಚಿತವಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಹಬ್ಬದ ದಿನದಂದು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಬ್ಬದ ಪೂರ್ವ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ, ಛಾಯಾಚಿತ್ರ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಹಾಗೂ ನಿಧಿಶೋಧ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನೀಡಿರುವ ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಮನಸೂರೆಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಛಾಯಾಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯುವವರು 'ಛಾಯಾಚಿತ್ರ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ'ಯ ವಿಜೇತರೆನಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು. 'ನಿಧಿಶೋಧ' ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ನೀಡಲಾಗುವ ಸುಳಿವುಗಳ ಜಾಡು ಹಿಡಿದು, ಮುಂದಿನ ರಹಸ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಪತ್ತೆ ಹಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಸಾಗಿ ಅಂತಿಮ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟುವವರು ವಿಜಯಶಾಲಿಗಳಾಗುವರು.

ಹಬ್ಬದ ಮುಂಜಾನೆ,
ನವ ಪುಷ್ಪದ, ನವ ಭಾವದ, ನವನವೀನತೆಯು ಹರಡಿರಲು,
ಮನದ ಭಕುತಿಯು ಕನ್ನಡಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮಿಡಿದಿರಲು,
ಕನ್ನಡಾಂಬೆಯ ಘೋಷವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘೋಷಿಸುತ್ತ
ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಲು,
ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊರಡುವುದೊಂದು ಪುಟ್ಟ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆ.
ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಪ್ರಮುಖರಾದ ಕುಲಸಚಿವರು, ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರು, ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಧ್ವಜಾರೋಹಣ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವು ನಾಡಗೀತೆಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ನೆರವೇರುವುದು. ಶೀತಲ ಪವನದ ಸಂಚಾರದ ನಡುವೆ ರಾರಾಜಿಸುವ ಕೆಂಪು ಹಳದಿ ಪಟದ ಶ್ರೀರಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ಸವದ ಶುಭಾರಂಭವಾಗುವುದು.

ರಂಗುರಂಗಿನ ಪುಷ್ಪಗಳಿಂದ ಸಾಲಂಕೃತಗೊಂಡ ಸಭಾಂಗಣ.
ಕನ್ನಡವನ್ನು ಉಸಿರಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಿಂದ ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸುವ ವೇದಿಕೆ.
ಅವರ ವಾಕ್ಚಾತುರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಆಸ್ವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕ ಗಣ.
ಇವೆಲ್ಲಕ್ಕೂ ನಮಗುಂಟು ಕನ್ನಡಮ್ಮನ ಹಾರೈಕೆ.
ಸಭಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮುಗಿದ ನಂತರ, ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ 'ಕನ್ನಡ ರಸಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ' ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನಕ್ಕೆ 'ವೇದಿಕೆ' ಎಂಬ ಎರಡು ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳು ಜರುಗುತ್ತವೆ. ನೃತ್ಯ, ನಾಟಕ, ಏಕಪಾತ್ರಾಭಿನಯ, ಭಾವಗೀತೆ, ಸ್ವರಚಿತ ಕವನ ವಾಚನ, ಚುಟುಕುಗಳು, ಪ್ರಹಸನ, ನಗೆಹೊನಲು ಇನ್ನೂ ಹತ್ತು ಹಲವಾರು ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲು 'ವೇದಿಕೆ'ಯನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮದಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.
ಜ್ಞಾನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಸ್ನೇಹವನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ 'ರಸಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ'ಯ ಬಹುಮಾನವನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮದಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು.

ನಮ್ಮವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಗುವನ್ನು ಹಂಚುತ್ತಾ, ಹಿರಿಯರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾ, ಸಂಜೆಯ ಸೂರ್ಯನಿಗೆ ವಿದಾಯ ಹೇಳುವ ಸಮಯಕ್ಕೆ, ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳ ವಿಜೇತರನ್ನು ಪುರಸ್ಕರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾತೆಗೆ ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ ಸ್ನೇಹ ಮತ್ತು ನಮನಗಳನ್ನು ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿ, ಉತ್ಸವಕ್ಕೊಂದು ಶಿಸ್ತುಬದ್ಧ ಪೂರ್ಣ ವಿರಾಮವನ್ನು ಇಡಲಾಗುವುದು.

Red and yellow state flags adorn the streets, houses, and official buildings to celebrate the foundation of the state in the name of Kannada Rajyotsava. The festival is celebrated on the 1st of November every year across the state of Karnataka with great joy and pomp. The beauty of this day is that it’s enjoyed with much excitement across all age groups, religions, and gender, making it a truly wholesome and inclusive celebration.

The Editorial Board begins to prepare all day long for the grand celebration of Kannada Rajyotsava. There are various competitions for Kannada enthusiasts on the eve of and on the day of the festival. On one side, photography and fundraising events are held. In the 'Treasure Hunt' competition, various teams will follow the trail of clues to find the next secret spot. They race to decipher the clues with great enthusiasm to reach the final location.

On the day of Rajyotsava, the state flag is hoisted on campus and is accompanied by the state anthem in the presence of the university's leading dignitaries, principal, professors, and students who pay their respects to the language and the state. The hall, which is adorned with flowers and red and yellow flags, is opened for the main event. After this, there are two competitions - 'Kannada Quiz' and ‘Vedike’. Participants are encouraged to dance, perform a drama or a monologue, sing, recite poetry as part of the event. Winners of all these competitions are awarded prizes by the Chief Guest.
