Eddie shriniesis
Common Name: Shrijani/Shrini
Abstract: While studying the editorial ecosystem of the college, one specimen has been of particular interest. Hereafter referred to as Shrini, this species belongs to the genus Eddie and is commonly spotted either in the Department of Biotechnology or near the canine species in and around campus. The species has many noteworthy traits, including but not limited to an affinity towards Greek mythology and a high sensitivity to poorly written prose and poetry.

Distinguishing Characteristics: The following features may be used to identify Shrini—
- Distinct red highlights in hair
- Big fat fantasy or romance novel in the vicinity at all times
- Strong aversion to broken book spines
- Killer sense of style

Behaviour: Shrini demonstrates a combination of a strong attachment to the rest of the Eddie population and a healthy disdain for the institution congregating them. The specimen has even been found capable of colourfully vocalising this disdain, switching to Kannada when the situation warrants it. The species is still, however, widely regarded as extremely kind and is seen frequently checking in on the young ones in the Eddie population.
An alliance between the specimen and the campus dog population need also be noted. They appear to recognise and run towards the specimen in the hallways.

Food synthesis capabilities: Synthesis of food items such as pasta and mug cake seems to be Shrini’s speciality. The specimen follows extremely specific instructions for its preparation, and the rest of the Eddie population is recommended to do the same.

Notable Recorded Interaction: The following interaction was recorded between another member of the genus Eddie and Shrini.
Eddie: “You’re your parents’ worst nightmare.”
Shrini: “Thanks, I’m really glad.”

Field Notes: While taxonomy attempts to categorise Shrini’s traits into neat little boxes, no classification system can capture the multitude of things she manages to be all at once.
Shrini simultaneously carries knowledge of brainrot content on Instagram and the current political and economic state of the world and swiftly switches between them in conversation.
She holds strong opinions, and she will gladly tell you about them (if she determines you to be cool enough) while simultaneously exhibiting the kind of kindness that makes you comfortable in telling yours. The more time you spend with her, the more layers reveal themselves—kindness, resilience, warmth, and above all, a strong will to just remain true to who she is. This particular specimen of the Eddie population refuses to be put into any one box or fit any one label, and they love her for it.
